Ayutthaya was once the prosperous capital of the Kingdom of Siam and is located approximately 85 km away from the current capital, Bangkok. It was a thriving international trading port from 1350-1767 before it was razed by the Burmese.
Today, the ruins of the old city form the Ayutthaya Historical Park which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
