The Tarcoles is full of crocodiles, scarlet macaws, Jesus Christ lizards, and over 120 species of birds. Then we glide along this placid river with our naturalist guide, who describes the birds, animals, and habitat in great detail. After visiting the river mouth, we venture up a mature mangrove area, where we stop to learn about this remarkable ecosystem. Return upstream to the native botanic garden, where your guide explains more about the native plant species of this transitional habitat. Our tour takes place in very comfortable and safe boats, down the Rio Grande de Tárcoles, in the Central Pacific of Costa Rica, this is home to approximately 2,000 crocodiles, some of which grow up to 15 feet long and weigh up to 1,500 pounds. Our guide will provide you with valuable information about the wildlife and environment around us. We will get very close so you can appreciate American crocodiles of all sizes.
