Highlights

Discover the visionary work of Alphonse Mucha at "Spirit of Art Nouveau." This is the most comprehensive exhibition of his creations ever showcased in Australia. Alphonse Mucha (1860–1939) is one of art's great stylistic innovators. He crafted some of the most recognizable and beloved works in modern European art. With his seductive and sinuous compositions, Mucha developed a new artistic language. His work epitomized the spirit of Art Nouveau. Mucha's unique style was the defining aesthetic of late 19th-century Paris.

Organized in close cooperation with the Mucha Foundation, Prague. This exhibition features pieces from the Mucha Family Collection. Visitors can explore Mucha's diverse talents. Admire his illustrations, jewellery, interior decorations, and photographs. Mucha was once celebrated as "the greatest decorative artist in the world." He gained fame with his posters for Sarah Bernhardt. His advertising and product designs achieved global recognition.

Mucha was an artist, activist, mystic and philosopher. His pursuit of "art for the people" aimed to elevate the human spirit. This exhibition also includes an immersive digital experience of Mucha's monumental painting cycle. Witness the Slav Epic for a deeper understanding of the artist behind the iconic images. Supported by Destination NSW, this exhibition is a must-see for art enthusiasts and history lovers alike.
