Do you experience sudden, unexplained exhaustion and spells of demotivation? Well, here's an explanation - you've overworked yourself.

After long weeks of being cooped up in the cubicle, it's time to escape to the great outdoors (or interesting indoors) and have a picnic with your loved ones.

Don't know any good picnic locations to explore yet? Let us help you. We've shortlisted the best picnic spots (indoors and outdoors) right here in Singapore for you.

You're going to thank us later; we promise!

Gardens by the Bay

No list of the best picnic spots in Singapore is complete without mentioning Gardens by the Bay.

While these futuristic gardens are better known for their highly Instagrammable, mind-blowing architecture—from the impressive Supertrees adorned with vertical gardens to the two avant-garde domes—you can still find a perfect spot in the surrounding gardens for a picnic.

And with a view of Marina Bay to top it off, why wouldn’t you choose to come here?

Pro tip: Head to Bay East Garden for an epic sunset spot and a postcard-perfect view of how the Gardens grace Singapore's skyline.

East Coast Park

One of Singapore's most popular spots, East Coast Park, is the best place to picnic if you want to have a blast with your family and/or friends.

With tons of places to set up your mats and relax, you rarely need to worry about rushing to find a spot - plus it's a great place to set up a luxury picnic too.

Along this 15km stretch of beach on the southeastern coast of Singapore, you can also enjoy cycling, rollerblading, cable skiing, and water sports!

Many great cafes in the park make it a perfect place overall in terms of amenities.

Tip: Try to grab a spot on the beach near the Bougainvillea Garden. We think it's the best!

Timings: Open 24/7

Fort Canning Park

Fort Canning Park is like a secret treehouse hideout we had as kids but way cooler! A wealth of history is packed into its lush green hills and nine gardens.

If you wish to work up an appetite for your picnic, try exploring the winding trails here and climbing the hills.

We're sure you'll encounter many happy kids running around or playing with their pets, couples enjoying a quiet romantic picnic, tourists with their cameras, or just groups of friends catching up.

Tip: Check out the Bali-like Sang Nila Utama Garden, totally Instagram-worthy. Join a tour that brings you to this garden and lets you see other cool things like a colonial fort and a heritage gallery.

West Coast Park

Perfect for families, this gorgeous expanse covers over 50 hectares of vast natural beauty for you to explore.

Children especially love it here because it's an unending space for frolicking around.

For fun activities, you can check out the barbecue pits, dog runs, or the enormous playground with eight different play areas.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can also rent bikes or pedal go-karts to explore the whole park."

Tip: This is a great night picnic spot as well; there are camping sites on the park grounds.

Timings: Open Daily, 7am to 7pm

Southern Islands

The Southern Islands are a cluster of smaller islands located south of the main island of Singapore. Each island offers a variety of attractions, including beaches, hiking trails, historical sites, and religious landmarks.

Some of the most popular southern islands include Kusu Island, Sentosa, St. John's, and Lazarus. Although these are separate islands, collectively, they can easily be called one of the most romantic picnic spots in Singapore.

You can take a short ferry ride or plan a romantic picnic on a boat with your partner. These islands are without a doubt the tranquil escape from the city that you're craving.

Esplanade Roof Terrace

Don't limit your picnic options to just parks. Spice things up, or in this case, elevate your picnic experience with a rooftop session at the Esplanade Roof Terrace.

While it may lack privacy or personal space, this option more than makes up for it with plenty of benches and superb views.

Plus, there's always the option of heading indoors if it starts to rain. Alternatively, you can take a stroll to the nearby Marina Bay for additional seating if it gets too crowded.

Address: 1 Esplanade Dr, Singapore 038981 (map)

Timings: Open daily, 10am to 8pm

Punggol Waterway Park

Punggol Waterway Park is a haven for picnic enthusiasts. Lush greenery and stunning views of the longest man-made waterway in Singapore create a picturesque backdrop for your outdoor feast.

With playgrounds for children and a vibrant waterfront promenade, it offers a delightful picnic experience for families and friends seeking a peaceful escape within the city.

Even though camping isn't permitted here, you can still enjoy a picnic at night, providing a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city center.

Tip: The Kelong Bridge in the park offers stunning waterway views and is a great place to watch the sunset.

Address: Sentul Cres, Singapore 821313 (map)

Timings: Open 24/7

Kallang Riverside Park

This park is located right next to the Kallang River and offers a great view of the Singapore National Stadium.

It's an excellent spot for both water and land sports, and it's conveniently connected to the Kallang Wave Mall by a pedestrian bridge, making it easily accessible for everyone.

With plenty of grassy areas, finding a spot to spread your picnic blanket is a breeze; the best places are, of course, near the river.

However, if you're seeking some shelter, you can have your picnic under the bridge, near the pavilion, or beneath the thick, lush trees.
