— What You Can Expect —
Nestled on the east ridge of Mount Kinabalu, approximately 2 hours' drive from
Kota Kinabalu town, Maragang Hill beckons you to trek through its cool
mountainous landscape in Kampong Mesilau. Hike up rugged trails and muddy
slopes, climb over moss-covered tree trunks, and encounter occasional pitcher
plants on your way to the summit.
On cloudy days, admire misty visions enveloping tall trees along the trail.
With a peak soaring to 2,232 meters above sea level and the majestic backdrop
of Mount Kinabalu, this hill promises a rewarding view and abundant photo
opportunities from its summit platform!

Itinerary
Option A: Trek Only

Get picked up from your hotel and start the trip with a 2-hour overland drive to Mesilau, Kundasang in the early morning06:30
Upon arrival, meet your local guide for a briefing on safety, do's and don'ts, and trail expectations at the registration office06:45
Hop into a four-wheel drive and be transferred to the trail's starting point, where your adventure kicks off!Proceed to the roughly cut, narrow trail to the peak that will take around 2 hours of hiking through dense vegetation and natural slopes. While the trek starts with a “warm up” of 600 meters of uphill paved roads, it soon enters into a thick forest with a 45-degree angle slope where you may need to grab on to a nearby tree branch or rope for an occasional helping hand
Continue your journey on the trail, experiencing a gradual even terrain followed by a short flat stretch of romantically mossy path before ascending once more. Inhale the fresh, crisp mountain air, attuned to specific bird calls, and remain vigilant for pitcher plants and other distinctive features along the trek. Don't forget to take a moment for a photo stop at the midway viewing point!
Stride proudly up the wooden stairs and take in the stunning view from 2,232 meters upon turning round the “corner” of the bushes to the summit clearing. If the weather favors you, the clear blue skies will herald the jagged grey peaks of Mount Kinabalu towering high above
Get teasing glimpses of the mountain in between the low-hanging clouds and perhaps a sneaky rainbow, if you're lucky! From another point of the Peak Platform, you may be able to spot the rolling green fields of Desa Cow Farm far below. Re-energize yourself with water and energy snacks as you soak in the peaceful ambiance and pleasing views

Descend using the same trail after snapping photos to your satisfactionGet transferred at the ending point via four-wheel drive back to the registration office where you can proudly receive your Certificate of Achievement!

Proceed for a warm meal at a local restaurant. For guests who book the "Trek Only" option, you will be transferring back to Kota KinabaluOption B: Trek + ATV (Route: Desa Cattle Farm + Garden Farm)
Proceed for an adventurous journey that will let you experience the beautiful Kundasang mountainside in a unique way: riding a quad bike!
Be amazed by the scenic drive up and down rolling hills, going through rivers and quaint villages amongst some of the best landscapes in Borneo. Along the way, your guide will make some stops to tell you more about the life of its people and fauna. This will be a guided scenic adventure unlike anywhere else in Borneo
