Highlights
Climb up Saint Louis’ Keep and take a stroll around the Medieval fortifications. Saint-Louis founded the fortified city of Aigues Mortes to provide the kingdom of France with a port on the Mediterranean. The keep ramparts and towers, gems of 13th-century Gothic architecture, are a remarkably well-preserved defence structure.
Perched on the terrace of the Tower of Constance, you will observe a spectacular panorama overlooking the Camargue and salt marshes. Under the majestic ribbed vaults of the towers, you will dive into the Middle Age with its Crusades and the major events that have marked the city. Your ticket allows you direct entry to the Towers and Ramparts.

Admission Ticket IncludedMake your own way to Aigues-Mortes and use your pre-paid ticket to enjoy access to the medieval fortifications and ramparts. Once inside, set out on a self-guided tour and spend as long as you like exploring the magnificent ruins. Along the way, learn about the city's history as a port and royal stronghold, and learn how the towers were turned into prisons and used to hold Protestant prisoners after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685.

Entrance is free for anyone under the age of 18 years old. Citizens and permanent residents from the European Union can visit for free if they are aged between 18 and 25 years old (an ID is necessary).
The monument is closed on January 1st, May 1st and December 25th
Please note that travellers will not receive any refund regardless of cancellation status, even if the monument is closed on your visit date, you can use this ticket any other open day.
The last admission is 45 minutes before closing.
Please note it closes at 4pm on the 24th and 31st December 2024.
Ticket Office close between 1-2pm from 1st September – 31st December 2024.
Please note that access to the monument will be free on September 21th and 22th during the European Heritage Days. The monument is also free the first Sunday of each month from November to March.
