Goto Sumio, known as one of the best contemporary painters in the Japanese art
world, loved nature and used rocks to paint. He loved the natural beauty of
Hokkaido and established his own studio in Kamifurano with a beautiful view of
Mt. Tokachi. Since 1997, the Goto Sumio Art Museum has been known to be the
home of his Hokkaido-inspired artworks.
Explore the first floor to see the reception desk, six exhibition rooms, and a
souvenir shop. Visit the second floor to check out the reference room and the
restaurant, where you can taste delicacies made from local ingredients. Enjoy
vegetables, wine, cheese, and Furano curry with a gorgeous view of Mt. Tokachi
