Dinokeng Game Reserve is Gauteng's largest "Big Five" wildlife sanctuary, 1 hour, 40 minutes north of Johannesburg and 40 minutes from Pretoria. The popular sunrise (6 a.m.) or sunset (4 p.m.) game drives are the best times to look for the Big Five. A game drive session's duration is typically 2 hours and 30 minutes on the open-back 4x4 trucks driven by the resident game ranger, who will narrate fun facts about the park while navigating through the vast, dusty trails. Hippos, elephants, rhinos, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, kudus, jackals, impalas, wildebeest, and crocodiles are among the popular sights to look forward to. Each truck seats a total of 10 adults, so the rangers will have more time to answer all your individual questions about the wildlife.
