The lake is located at the highest elevation in Hokkaido.
Nearby are the Lake Shikaribetsu Railway and Fukuhara Sanso, and there are many popular spots on social media.
The mountain reflected on the lake's surface looks like lips, hence the name “Mt. Kuchibiru(Lip),” which has become the symbol of Lake Shikaribetsu.

Tour participants can wear Ainu costumes and experience the traditional Ainu dance.
