The lake is named so due to that the shape of its eastern part, which is like the sun and the western part, which is like a crescent moon. Miyahara Ophthalmology Miyahara is a red-brick architecture built by Miyahara Takeo, a Japanese ophthalmology doctor in 1927. It was the largest ophthalmology clinic in Taichung during the Japanese colonial period.
