Highlights

Penyagolosa Natural Park is dominated by the peak that gives it its name, which with its 1,814 m is considered the top of the Valencian Community and a benchmark in Valencian hiking. Its summits, hills and even cliffs are the habitat of numerous species of flora and fauna that confer an extraordinary richness and biodiversity to these lands.

Itinerary

Visiting some of the most beautiful villages in Spain

  • Rubielos de Mora

    Our first stop will be in Rubielos de Mora. Here we will take a stroll through the town and admire the fascinating medieval architecture.

  • Puertomingalvo

    6 hoursAdmission Ticket Free
    Next we will visit another charming town - Puertomingalvo. Here we will also do an easy hike to the Pellejero peak, which will give us stunning views of the town. We will also be able to observe Peñagolosa, the peak that we will ascend the following day.

  • Mosqueruela

    A relaxed evening in Mosqueruela, the village where we will spend the night.
  • Accommodations
    Overnight at "Mosqueruela Rural" in Mosqueruela

    Breakfast - Coffee/breakfast in Rubielos de Mora
    Lunch - Bring picnic lunch. Additionally, we can get baked goods in the village bakery.

The Ascent to Penyagolosa

  • Penyagolosa Natural Park

    The highest peak of Valencian Community - Peñagolosa is a delight for all hikers. With the height of 1814 meters above sea level it stands out above all the surrounding area and can easily be recognised from the beaches in Castellón area. On clear days it is possible to see hundreds of kilometers of Mediterranean coast - from Tarragona in the North all the way down to Denia in the South. The hike is 14 kilometers long, with an elevation gain of 600 meters and it usually takes about 5 hours to do the whole loop.

  • Vistabella del Maestrazgo

    1 hoursAdmission Ticket Free
    After the hike we will stop in Vistabella de Maestrazgo to relax, have a post-hike drink and share the impressions of having hiked to the highest peak of Valencian Community.
  • Food And Drinks
    Breakfast - We will have breakfast in a bar in Mosqueruela.
    Lunch - We will get lunch in Mosqueruela and have picnic at the top of Penyagolosa.
