The second largest city in Sabah and situated on the gulf of the Sulu Sea,
Sandakan is considered the gateway to Sabah's well-known ecotourism region.
But beyond ecotourism, Sandakan is also an important historical site.
In this tour, you get to experience the natural wonders and wildlife of
Sandakan up close, from observing turtles and their behavior at one of the
oldest hatcheries in the world at Selingan Turtle Island, to encounters with
orangutans at the famous Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, which serves
as a haven for rescued orphaned baby orangutans. Just next door lies the
Bornean Sun Bear Conservation, the only of its kind in the world where
researchers and keepers work tirelessly to protect and raise awareness about
the smallest bear species.
Discover more of Sandakan's wildlife in their natural habitat as you cruise
along the second longest in Malaysia, the Kinabatangan River, and stroll
through the Rainforest Discovery Centre, an education centre forest reserve
that is also home to mouse deers, flying squirrels, civets and pygmy
elephants.
Once known as "Little Hong Kong" due to its strong presence of Chinese
immigrants, you can remnants of this period through Sandakan's architecture
and cityscape. Immerse yourself deeper into its rich history and culture as
you tour about iconic spots such as Sandakan Memorial Park and Sandakan
Central Market. With a combination a rich heritage and an abundance of nature,
it's not hard to see why Sandakan is one of Sabah's most famous tourist

Pick up from Sepilok Jungle Resort09:15
Pick up from City Hotels in SandakanTransfer to Sepilok Jungle Resort (SJR). Then, take a 5 mins. leisure walk to the nearby Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre.
Watching one of the nature’s most endangered animal species, the ‘Orang Utan’, in local language swing from branches to branches towards to the feeding station in the forest.
Watch the scheduled video show programme (25mins), visit to the Exhibition Hall.
Continue your tour to discover the world's smallest bear species at the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre
Lunch en route at SJR.
Make your second visit to the orangutan sanctuary to observe and even participate in the afternoon feeding
Have an educational and fun time at the Rainforest Discovery Centre, which is part of the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve. The Centre is lined with steel walkways that allow visitors to go up in the trees and spot of any of the 250 types of birds and other wildlife such as the flying squirrel and civet that call this place home
Take a walk on the suspension bridge and the long Canopy Walkway, which provides a birds-eye-view of the surrounding rainforest
Have a pleasant dinner at SJR then fall asleep to the lull of the jungle in your cozy room

Depart SJR and transfer to the CQ Jetty for Selingan Turtle Island. This journey by motorised boat will take about 1 hour.After lunch, grab your mask, fins and snorkel and head to the beach where you can find lots of juvenile marine life.
Or, you can choose to relax or sun bathing by the beach.
Before dinner, treat yourself to a slide show featuring information of the turtle park and turtles.
After dinner, standby at the Cafeteria. Wait for Park Ranger’s signal before proceed in a small group to the egg-laying site to witness the mother turtle laying eggs, transferring of eggs to the hatchery and releasing of hatchlings to the sea.
After an eventful day, fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean in your charming room at Selingan Island Chalet

After a delicious breakfast surrounded by crystal-clear ocean waters, depart Selingan Turtle Island to return to the mainland and start your tour of Sandakan CityVisit Sandakan Memorial Park, a memorial site dedicated to WWII prisoners of war
Marvel at the Buddhist statues and magnificent views of Sandakan Bay at Puu Jih Shih Temple
Continue your tour to St Michael's & All Angels Church, the oldest stone church in Sabah
Discover Central Market, which offers a range of local produce, seafood, and some of the tastiest dishes in Sandakan
Stop by the Agnes Keith House museum, a British colonial house that was once home to renowned author Agnes Keith, who wrote about her daily life in British North Borneo
Visit the nearby English Tea House & Restaurant, a colonial style villa with pretty gardens and stunning bay vistas

After lunch, we will continue overland to Bilit Adventure Lodge. Upon arrival, check in.

Hop on a boat for an early morning cruise along the mighty Kinabatangan River, spotting wildlife such as gibbons and crocodiles along the wayAfter the boat ride, return to Bilit Adventure Lodge for a hearty breakfast
Late morning, depart for a guided nature jungle walk to experience the riverine forest.
Trek back to the lodge to rest, freshen up, and have your lunch
Enjoy afternoon tea break. Afternoon, depart for second afternoon river cruise.
After dinner, we proceed for a guided night walk in search of nocturnal wildlife.
Return to Bilit Adventure Lodge for a good night's rest

Enjoy a spot of breakfast before saying goodbye to Bilit to return to Sandakan CityTransfer back to respective hotel or drop off at Sandakan Airport for your onwards flights.
