This full day raptor identification course with Ecologist Dr. Ryan Dibala is sure to inspire a lifelong interest in our birds of prey. Although the Colorado mid-winter may seem bleak and unproductive for bird sightings, it is the most important time of year for nesting raptors.
Throughout the day, search several nature reserves in and around Denver for nesting eagles, learn about their nesting biology and behavior, and review important field identification techniques for raptors. Possible sightings may include Bald Eagle, Golden Eagle, Red-tailed Hawk, Ferruginous Hawk, Rough-legged Hawk, Northern Harrier, Prairie Falcon, and American Kestrel. Guests will also learn about owls and visit several areas where sightings may be possible. Test your identification skills in the field, practice photography, and learn about the ecology of these fascinating predators.
