Heritage on a Plate - Food Tours in George Town, Penang
Jenny our guide brought us to so many places that we struggled to finish our meals by the end of the tour. She was great with answering my questions, and I was also happy to see some of the famous Georgetown street art. Don't have breakfast if you are doing the morning tour! The tour finished on time. Highly recommended !
Amazing tour to understand the heritage and culture of Penang while tasting yummy street food including the famous Penang assam laksa at a Michelin Bib Gourmand eatery. The guide was very knowledgeable and speaks good English. We learnt alot about the street cuisine, religious establishments, clans and the famous lanes. Strolling along the 5-feet walkways, we also saw many interesting murals and historical shophouses along lanes that shaped the culture of Georgetown. It's a fantastic tour for anyone visiting Penang.
As advertised, the tour begins at the St. George Church in Penang at 0900. We were there but no guide. We waited for 15 minutes and began to walk back to the hotel. Then the Penang office WhatsApp phoned and asked us where we were. We explained that we were at the church waiting for 15 minutes. We were then told the meeting place was not the Church but the guide would come over. She did arrive at 0940 and apologised for the confusion. We discovered that only when you scrolled down and pressed a little icon then it said the meeting was to be at a market place nearby. You need to update your website badly. The tour was excellent but if we were not to meet at the church, why indicate upfront that the tour begins at the church? We were told the tour actually began at the market place to see the local's morning shopping venues!!!
