Donghwasa Temple
Donghwasa Temple is a historic Silla temple located in the Donghakdong valley
with Palgongsan Mountain's Waterfall Valley, Bindae-gol, and Susugol on the
left and right. It is the headquarters of the 9th diocese of the Jogye sect of
Korean Buddhism. It was founded in 493 (King Sogi 15) and called Yugasa
Temple. Later, in 832 (King Heungdeok 7), The temple was rebuilt by Royal
Preceptor Simji. Although it was winter at that time, paulownia trees were in
full bloom around the temple, so it is said that it was renamed Donghwasa
Temple.
Most of the existing temples were built during the Yeongjo Dynasty, including
Daewoongjeon, Yeongyeongjeon, Cheontaegak, Yeongsanjeon, Bongseoru,
Simgumdang, Chilsunggak, Sanshingak, Eunghyanggak, Wonumgak, and Cheonanmun.

Yangjinam, and Yeombulam.
