Is built in French neo-baroque style and it reminds us of the Grand Opera in Paris. The most impressive room is the Union Room, where the most important receptions are taking place. Constructed from 1888 to 1893 at the behest of Romania's first king, Carol I, Cotroceni Palace has since 1991 been the official residence of the Romanian President. Built on the site of a former monastery (the foundations and cellars of which remain, and form part of the tour of the palace), the palace was designed by a French team of architects, led by Paul Gottereau. The design would form something of a blueprint for Romanian domestic architecture for years to come. It served as the Bucharest residence of the Romanian royal family until 1939.
  • The House of Ceaușescu

    1 hoursAdmission Ticket Not Included
The former residence of Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu can now be visited on a guided tour. Built in the 1960s and known by the codename P50 during the communist period, the 80-room Spring Palace (to use the English translation of its name) served as a home for the Ceausescus for almost two decades. First of all, the palace has 80 rooms. Yes, that’s right. It may not look massive on the outside, but it’s spacious on the inside. You will also find an indoor pool, a SPA, a hair salon, and even a bunker – but we’ll get to this later. The rooms have chandeliers, which are made out of Murano crystal. The carpets are made out of Indian silk. There’s also a press house, a movie theatre, a greenhouse and a bunker. This room is approximately 10 feet underground and the entry is disguised by an upholstered door. In the case of bombing or a nuclear attack, the Ceausescu family would refuge here. The bunker has a special ventilating system because he was paranoid about being poisoned through these systems.

As you stroll, learn about Braşov’s history — from the Middle Ages through to present day. Explore the medieval fortress of Brasov, formerly one of Europe's most secure fortresses. See the preserved old wall, the Black and White Towers and the Weaver's Bastion. Also, learn about Ecatherine's Gate, situated near the Schei Gate in the western part of the fortress and its 4 little towers symbolising the medieval right of life and death over the vassal's lives.
  • Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle)

2 hours 30 minsAdmission Ticket Not Included
A highlight of your cultural excursion will be the visit to the medieval Bran Castle. Drive into the Transylvanian Alps to Sinaia and Brasov. Sinaia was named after the Mount Sinai and is known for its beautiful late 17th-Century Byzantine monastery. You will visit the neo-classical Peleș Castle, built on a medieval route that linked Transylvania to Wallachia. Peles Castle was built in the 19th century according to the specifications of Romania's first King, Carol I, and it is one of Romania's most iconic landmarks. Peles Castle is the most impressive castle in Romania and a must-see attraction if you’re passionate about stories of royalty, splendid architecture and history. The summer residence of the royal family until 1948 when it was confiscated by the communist regime, the castle from Sinaia is today, like in its first years, one of the most beautiful castles in Europe.
