Itinerary
Ometepe
The adventure starts at 5:30 in the morning with the pick up at the hotel, in order to head towards Finca Magdalena, where the hike to the dormant Maderas volcano begins, a traditional community farm situated at the eastern slope of the volcano. While in the farm and the property, several pre-Columbian remnants are encountered.
The climb is quite steep and difficult, but the trail is well-kept, a good physical condition is required, as the hike to the summit takes around four hours. At the summit you can oversee the mystical crater lake, and on a clear day you have wonderful views of the island; moreover, during the climb white-faced and howler monkeys may accompany you, rustling in the leaves, curiously beholding the spectacle. Once is time to go back, prepare for another 4 hours of hike to get to the base of the volcano, then you are taken to the hotel.
