Itinerary

  • Start of Tour (8:00AM)

Meet at the JR Tokyo Station Marunouchi North Exit or Shinjuku West Exit, the entrance of Mitsui Sumimoto Banking Corporation (Arrive 10 mins in advance).
  • Kamakura Giant Buddha

Marvel at the bronze seated statue of Amida Buddha, commonly known as the Kamakura Giant Buddha, located in the Kotoku-in of the Jodo sect temple in the ancient capital of Kamakura. The Buddha statue was built in 1252. The flat face of the Giant Buddha, the lower topknot, and the forward-leaning posture all bear the hallmarks of the style of the Song Dynasty Buddha statuary popular in the Kamakura period. It is designated as a national treasure of Japan.
  • Minamoto no Yoritomo

It was established in the first samurai regime in Kamakura, the Kamakura Shogunate (1192-1333). During these 140 years, Kamakura, as the center of the whole of Japan at that time, experienced rapid development. However, with the establishment of the succeeding Muromachi shogunate, Kamakura began to decline. In the first year of Kosho (1455), Kamakura was even reduced to a village with only agriculture and fishing to sustain it after the Battle of Furukawa under the Sokuni. Later, with the revival of shrines and temples, Kamakura gradually evolved into an important tourist area in Japan.
  • Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine

Tsuruoka Hachimangu, formerly known as Kamakura Hachimangu, was the central shrine of the patron saint of samurai during the Kamakura Shogunate (1192). It holds a close connection to the first shogun of Kamakura and is quite famous in the Kanto area. Together with Ishimizu Hachiman Shrine (Kyoto) and Usa Hachiman Shrine (Oita Prefecture in Kyushu), they are collectively known as the three major Hachiman Shrines. The shrine's territory is vast, and many places have been designated as national historic sites. In addition, many flowers and plants are planted in it, and it is a famous place for local cherry blossom viewing. It was also awarded one star in the Michelin Tourist Guide.
  • Komachi Street

Walk along Komachi Street, which stretches from Kamakura Station to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, a famous and lively old street in Kamakura. There are many shops on both sides of the street, selling all kinds of things. Kamakura has a wide variety of souvenirs, Japanese handicrafts, and local delicacies, and is very popular among locals and tourists alike. Among these stores, there are many famous food stalls that have been listed as can't-miss destinations by popular tourist guides.
  • Enoshima

It is said that in April in the 13th year of Emperor Kinmei (552), sand began to flow from the seabed, and after 21 days, a sand island was formed. However, there is another moving tale about the initial formation of the island. Legend has it that in the past, there was a large lake about 40 miles wide around Tsumura (now Kamakura City), and in the lake lived a five-headed dragon. It caused landslides, epidemics, floods, and typhoons. People could not stop its evil deeds, and as a result, the village was desolate. The dragon had a special appetite for children, so the village was called Koshigoe ('Overcome Child Death.') (It's now a strip on the opposite bank of Enoshima). On a certain day in the 13th year of Kinmei, a beautiful fairy appeared in the clouds, and suddenly an island appeared in the sea. The dragon fell in love with the fairy at first sight and immediately promised to never do evil again, so he changed his ways and proposed to the fairy. Because of his unremitting efforts and continuous good deeds, he finally tied the knot with the fairy. Since then, the five-headed dragon and the gods have transformed the island and protected the people who live there. It is said that the fairy is the incarnation of the goddess Benzaiten.
  • Enoshima Shrine

Enoshima Shrine was founded in the 13th year of Emperor Kinmei (552), and the routine sacrifice is in early April. The wooden colorful eight-armed seated Benzaiten statue, the Hizenkoku Fujiwara Masahirosaku tachi blade, the Happo tortoise statue, and the original Enoshima bronze torii gateway are all precious can't-miss cultural treasures. At the same time, Benzaiten is also the goddess of wealth, and many worshipers and tourists come here. And the money-laundering White Dragon King on the side is even more famous—washing the coins here with clean water can bring good fortune!
  • Kamakura High School

Kamakura High School is located in Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, and is the model for Shohoku High School in the anime 'Slam Dunk'; the intersection not far from the station is the location of the classic scene where Sakuragi Hanamichi and Akagi Haruko meet. Standing at the intersection, in the chime of the bell, you can almost hear the hot-blooded youth of the anime. Now that many years have passed, everyone can't help but take pictures when they come here to commemorate their own youthful years. The setting and scenes of 'Slam Dunk,' so important to many of us who came of age in the 80s, give us a chance to recapture a bit of our own youthful vigor before we say goodbye for good.
  • Shonan Coast Walk

Past the railroad tracks and the main road, head down the stairs to the famous Shonan coast in Kanto, Japan. It is a paradise for netizens and those who like seaside activities. Take a stroll on the beach, listen to the sound of the waves, and relax. And if the weather is good, you can see Mount Fuji directly. In addition, it is often featured in Japanese travel programs, TV, movies, and other works. ※In the event of inclement weather, it may not be possible to go to the coast.
  • Enoden Experience

Enoden is a cable car that connects Fujisawa to Kamakura. The route includes most of Kamakura's famous sights, and you can also enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Shonan coast. When it comes to Kamakura, the indispensable representative means of transportation is Enoden. The scene of the tram passing by is often featured in major Japanese movies.

A compound station with upper and lower platforms, a number of lines connect the station to important locales all over the city. The main building of Tokyo Station, the red brick western facade, is an important national cultural property of Japan. It was renovated to its current appearance in 2012, completely reproducing the original appearance of the Tokyo Station Station Building of 100 years prior.
  • Shinjuku
