All You Need to Know About Genting's Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park

Genting Highlands, one of Malaysia’s most iconic travel destinations, is famed for its two vibrant theme parks: the outdoor theme park, Genting SkyWorlds; and the Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park, or simply Skytropolis.

Simply put, Skytropolis, Genting is an exciting entertainment space located that features plenty of fun rides and family-friendly experiences. Here’s what to expect when you visit Genting's popular indoor theme park for the first time.

    Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park map

Located at First World Plaza, Genting Skytropolis spans over 400,000 sq ft.

There's a good mix of rides and attractions. There are conventional roller coasters, classic arcade games, and state-of-the-art VR (virtual reality) experiences. Whether you prefer chasing thrills at high speed or immersing yourself in fun video games, there’s something for everyone in Skytropolis.

And to make things easier for visitors looking for some fun at Genting Skytropolis, all attractions are divided into three categories based on the level of thrill visitors can expect to find.

    Family Rides

As its name suggests, Family Rides is where you’ll find attractions and experiences that are child-friendly and suitable for families. Here, you’ll be able to hop on leisurely rides decked out with fun carnival music. Some of the highlights include the Jumping Spurs, a child-friendly mini jumping tower with milder drops (although parental supervision is required at all times), and the Boo Boo Bump miniature bumper car arena which provides lots of family fun.

There’s also the Copper Express open-top train ride; and the (slightly) more thrilling Chariot Cruise ride which requires adult supervision and is more suited for slightly older children as there is a height limit of 110cm for this ride.

    Adventure Rides

Next, Adventure Rides arguably make up the largest “zone”; most rides scattered around Skytropolis are categorised as such.

Adventure Rides provide moderate thrills without too much adrenaline rush. Some rides like the Balloon Race — a miniature hot-air balloon-inspired ride with some quick motions, and Loop de Loop, a fun track ride with mild curves around a miniature replica of the Eiffel Tower, are family-friendly attractions.

Meanwhile, others like the Music Express (a fast-spinning ride with sudden slopes and even random backward motion stops), Power Surge, which is a thrilling ride with upside down motions, and Sky Towers, a dizzyingly tall tower ride with sudden drops, are better suited for older patrons, while some rides, like Space Cadets, which includes fast but controllable flying motions, are suitable for children if they have adult supervision.

    Thrill Rides

Finally, the Thrill Rides of Skytropolis are high-octane attractions designed to get your heart racing and adrenaline pumping. Each of these rides have height requirements, and most of them disallow young children from boarding.

Disco! is like an upgraded version of Music Express, a huge spinning disc that swings back and forth with increasing speed. Alternatively, the Super Glider is a suspended lie-down coaster that lets you zoom across the air at thrilling speeds. There’s also Spin Crazy, one of the best Genting roller coasters to ride, and a massive 360° spinning pendulum that will (literally) rock your world.

    Other experiences

Apart from the various rides mentioned above, this Genting indoor theme park also houses plenty of other experiences.

There's a VR-based sensory experiences like Sky VR, which lets users embark on a whimsical, immersive journey of discovery in a truly multi-sensory experience.

You've also got classic arcades, carnival games at the BigTop Video Games Park, and a theatre (SkySymphony) where you can catch bedazzling free performances combined with audio, visual and motion graphics programming.

There's even a bowling alley where you can have a friendly competition with friends.
