The Baths of Caracalla , inaugurated in Rome under the Roman emperor Caracalla in 216 ap. J.-C., are the largest and most luxurious Roman thermal baths realized until then, even if they are later surpassed.
In addition to facilities directly related to the baths, this complex offers various activities (public and private baths, swimming, massage, gymnastics exercises), which explains its gigantic size. More than 11 hectares of space for 1,600 bathers and 64 tanks of 80,000 L each. Today it is the best preserved thermal building of the Roman Empire.
The ruins that still remain in Rome have retained their colossal appearance.
