• Gallery 1: Entering the Forbidden City: Architecture, Collection, and Heritage—Built on Beijing’s central axis, the position of the Forbidden City testifies to its significance to Chinese politics and culture.
• Gallery 2 - From Dawn to Dusk: Life and Art in the Forbidden City: Follow in the footsteps of the emperors and empresses of the Forbidden City and experience court life in the eighteenth century. Significant events from morning to bedtime and over 300 sumptuous treasures from the Palace Museum represent key moments in their busy and well-regulated lives. These moments bring to life the colour, texture, joy, and sorrow of life inside the Forbidden City.
• Gallery 3: Brilliance: Ming Dynasty Ceramic Treasures from the Palace Museum, 1368–1644: The Chinese ceramics housed in the Palace Museum—unparalleled in volume, quality, and variety—are mainly inherited from the imperial collections of the Ming (1368–1644) and Qing (1644–1911) dynasties. This exhibition features over 100 representative Ming ceramic treasures from the collection of the Palace Museum. It is organized in three sections and explores the development and the outstanding achievements of ceramic production in form, glaze, and design in the early, mid-, and late Ming dynasty.

• Gallery 4: The Hong Kong Jockey Club Ssries: Stories Untold — Figure Paintings Of The Ming Dynasty From The Palace Museum​ ​
  
  The paintings in each rotation are thoughtfully divided into groups to
  showcase the artistic pursuits and achievements of court painters, literati
  painters, and professional painters from the early, middle, and late periods
  of the Ming dynasty. ​

  
  

• Gallery 5 - The Quest for Originality: Contemporary Design and Traditional Craft in Dialogue: While the term sheji (“design”) was not used in China until the late nineteenth century, artisans there have been designing and making beautiful and ingenious objects for millennia. This exhibition brings together nearly 100 precious objects from the Palace Museum in lively dialogue with Hong Kong contemporary design talents. It demonstrates the deep interest in innovation, materiality, and function in design shared by people of the past and today, and how contemporary work draws inspiration from time-honoured traditions.

  
  

• Gallery 6: Passion for Collecting: Founding Donations to the Hong Kong Palace Museum​
  
  In less than two years since we opened, the Museum has received more than
  1,100 works. “Passion for Collecting: Founding Donations to the Hong Kong
  Palace Museum” showcases nearly 100 objects from our collection. The
  exhibition is divided into five sections: metalware, painting and calligraphy,
  furniture, religious art and ceramics, dating from the Neolithic period to the
  21st century.​

  
  

• Gallery 7: The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: Dwelling in Tranquillity—Reinventing Traditional Gardens​ Reinvents the traditional Chinese garden through a contemporary lens.​

• Gallery 8 - Bank of China (Hong Kong) Presents: The Origins of Chinese Civilisation (September 25, 2024–February 7, 2025)
  
  As one of the world’s four great civilisations, Chinese civilisation is
  extensive and profound, boasting a long history stretching back to antiquity.
  It remains the only ancient civilisation in the world that has continuously
  developed up to the present day. In 2002, China launched the “Origins of
  Chinese Civilisation Project”, a national-level research project to trace the
  origins of Chinese civilisation and has confirmed a remarkable cultural
  continuum evincing “diversity in unity” and ongoing development over the
  course of more than 5,000 years. This highly anticipated exhibition at the
  HKPM highlights the achievements of two decades of comprehensive research,
  which involved large-scale archaeological surveys and in-depth investigations
  into the origins, formation, and development of Chinese civilisation.

  
  

• Gallery 9 - The Adorned Body: French Fashion and Jewellery 1770–1910 from the Musée des Arts décoratifs, Paris (26.06.2024 – 14.10.2024)
  
  Opening in June, the first major special exhibition about fashion in France
  from the late 18th to the early 20th centuries will showcase over 300 stunning
  pieces of men and women’s costume, jewellery, and accessory, illustrating how
  fashion transformed the body in France during that period of time. Visitors
  will also gain insight into the global connections of French fashion through
  the designs and textiles, including Chinese silk.
