Highlights

Guwahati is an ancient city. It was earlier known as 'Pragjyotishpur' meaning the seat of astrological studies in the east. Tantric worship also propagated around the famous Kamakhya Temple which is an important shrine of the Shakti cult being one of the 51 Shakti Peeths in India. A stairway through a bazaar of colourful shops takes one to the temple. It is a monument with both historical and religious importance.
  • Navagraha Temple

    Navagraha is the temple of the nine planets. This is an ancient site for astrological studies. Guests can consult astrologer to know about their future (optional).
  • Ugratara Temple

    Ugratara temple in Guwahati dedicated to Goddess Ugratara, a form of 'Shakti' and is related to Tantric worship. The present temple structure was built by Ahom king Shiva Singha in the 18th century. Two beautiful tanks known as Jorpukhuri are in the backside of the temple where people used to take bath before worshipping Goddess Ugratara.
  • Umananda Temple

    Umananda temple on Umananda Island is dedicated to Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati. It is the smallest inhabited river island. Guests will cross a ferry to reach the temple and come back.
