Sandakan is considered the gateway to Sabah's well-known ecotourism region.
But beyond ecotourism, Sandakan is also an important historical site.
In this tour, you get to experience the natural wonders and wildlife of
Sandakan up close, from observing turtles and their behavior at one of the
oldest hatcheries in the world at Selingan Turtle Island, to encounters with
orangutans at the famous Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, which serves
as a haven for rescued orphaned baby orangutans. Just next door lies the
Bornean Sun Bear Conservation, the only of its kind in the world where
researchers and keepers work tirelessly to protect and raise awareness about
the smallest bear species.
Discover more of Sandakan's wildlife in their natural habitat as you cruise
along the second longest in Malaysia, the Kinabatangan River, and stroll
through the Rainforest Discovery Centre, an education centre forest reserve
that is also home to mouse deers, flying squirrels, civets and pygmy
elephants.
Once known as "Little Hong Kong" due to its strong presence of Chinese
immigrants, you can remnants of this period through Sandakan's architecture
and cityscape. Immerse yourself deeper into its rich history and culture as
you tour about iconic spots such as Sandakan Memorial Park and Sandakan

Transfer to Sepilok Jungle Resort (SJR). Then, take a 5 mins. leisure walk to the nearby Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre.
Watching one of the nature’s most endangered animal species, the ‘Orang Utan’, in local language swing from branches to branches towards to the feeding station in the forest.

Make your second visit to the orangutan sanctuary to observe and even participate in the afternoon feeding
Have an educational and fun time at the Rainforest Discovery Centre, which is part of the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve. The Centre is lined with steel walkways that allow visitors to go up in the trees and spot of any of the 250 types of birds and other wildlife such as the flying squirrel and civet that call this place home
Take a walk on the suspension bridge and the long Canopy Walkway, which provides a birds-eye-view of the surrounding rainforest
Have a pleasant dinner at SJR then fall asleep to the lull of the jungle in your cozy room

After lunch, grab your mask, fins and snorkel and head to the beach where you can find lots of juvenile marine life.
Or, you can choose to relax or sun bathing by the beach.
Before dinner, treat yourself to a slide show featuring information of the turtle park and turtles.
After dinner, standby at the Cafeteria. Wait for Park Ranger’s signal before proceed in a small group to the egg-laying site to witness the mother turtle laying eggs, transferring of eggs to the hatchery and releasing of hatchlings to the sea.
After an eventful day, fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean in your charming room at Selingan Island Chalet

After the boat ride, return to Bilit Adventure Lodge for a hearty breakfast
Late morning, depart for a guided nature jungle walk to experience the riverine forest.
Trek back to the lodge to rest, freshen up, and have your lunch
Enjoy afternoon tea break. Afternoon, depart for second afternoon river cruise.
After dinner, we proceed for a guided night walk in search of nocturnal wildlife.
Return to Bilit Adventure Lodge for a good night's rest
