Tour arrangements is so bad and we actually spend more then three -hours pickup a far passenger and place just going through motion. Not expecting Froml SQ
While the activity itself wasn't bad, the overall organization left much to be desired. Pelago could learn from platforms like Klook and Viator, where the entire experience is notably smoother. Typically, upon booking an activity, Klook would include the operator's contact details within the voucher, while Viator would offer a chat function for easy communication with the operator. Unfortunately, Pelago did not provide such information, leading to unnecessary stress. When the operator failed to contact us regarding the pick-up details the day before the activity, I had to reach out to Pelago for assistance. Thankfully, their live chat staff, Sabrina, was exceptionally helpful and promptly provided the operator's contact details. However, even after my attempts, the operator did not respond to my WhatsApp message. On the day of the activity, I received a last-minute WhatsApp message at 8 am from a different number, finally informing me that our pick-up would be at 9 am. Our guide, Syed, was fantastic, explaining that he had only been informed of our group's addition in the middle of the night, which led to the delayed message. This experience raised concerns about the effectiveness of Pelago's booking system. If I hadn't taken the initiative to contact Pelago when I was worried about the lack of information, there might have been a risk of a no-show by the operator on the day of the activity. Despite the enjoyable tour experience, I am reluctant to use Pelago again unless there are substantial discounts. The pre-activity stress was avoidable, and I believe I could have a smoother experience with other platforms. I initially tried Pelago due to a promotional discount, but this one experience has left me hesitant to use their services again.
The trip was terrible . Firstly, did not receive confirmation of trip by the local company - RAH tourism until 0100hrs in the morning of the trip due to start at 0900hrs. Pelago - you need to look into this ! Secondly, the Dubai morning tour is generally a car drive - the driver/tour guide was just a driver . He did not explain anything at all. He just drove and stopped us at different stops and merely says 10minutes, or 20minutes . No description, background at all . When asked if he was driver or tour guide he said he was both but his interaction suggest that he was just pulled up to provide driving service . Thirdly, the desert safari was marginally better - the driver/guide was a little more interactive and he did a good job sand duning . The stops were very questionable especially the ATV rides as anyone without a license can hop onto them - that is very dangerous . At the dinner place/ entertainment place - the food was canteen style “buffet” that was carb rich and very little proteins . The people were terrible, using their hands to grab the naan and not bothering to use the serving spoons - as such the hygiene standard is questionable. Most alarming was the treatment of camels who were made to carry loads of overweight tourists every 3-5minutes and were caned with an iron rod . The falcon was constantly jerked to startle it for it to spread its wing for photo opportunity for oblivious tourists who don’t understand or don’t support animal welfare . In short - the dinner and entertainment was crass cheap tourism that I do not approve of . I rather pay more for tours that look into animal welfare and better food hygiene . Y tbe way, they offer to upgrade you for 50dirhams to have VIO buffet where you will be given plastic treats rather than styrofoam plates to get your food as well as you get the privilege of eating 30minutes earlier than everyone with slightly better food at a different tent . Lastly I don’t understand the concept of a woman’s line and a man’s line to get food . It could be a cultural thingy to me . For me and my family- I won’t go for this tour due to the poor quality of the driver/guide, poor treatment of animals, and very poor communication by Pelago with the vendor . Pelago, there was a previous review about this tour about poor communications- you really need to work on this .
