• Shirakawago Gassho Village, one of the three largest Gassho Villages in Japan

Listed as one of the World Cultural Heritage, this fairy tale town is located
in Gifu Prefecture in central Japan. More than 113 [gassho-zukuri] style
houses sit here. The traditional wooden hut buildings with thatched roofs are
shaped like a herringbone with hands together. The roof is the most
distinctive feature of its appearance.

Don’t miss the Gassho Village Lighting event, held for only four nights this
winter. January and February bring the heaviest snowfall to Shirakawago,
turning the village into a magical winter wonderland. As night falls, the
Gassho houses light up one by one, illuminating the entire village in a sea of
lights. The sparkling lights highlight the uniquely shaped wooden houses
covered in snow, creating a warm, romantic fairy-tale scene.

• Gassho-Zukukuri-Outdoor Museum [Admission Ticket Included]

Several Gassho houses that have reached the end of their useful life and are
no longer habitable have been relocated and displayed here after undergoing
proper preservation. The scene of life in this area is recreated, with 25
Gassho houses in total. These include not only ordinary residences but also
shrines, temple halls, water wheel huts, and other structures. Visitors can
tour some of the residential buildings, even exploring the roofs. Some
buildings date back to the 18th century. The park also features a rest area
where you can enjoy tea, along with experience facilities like soba-making and
straw sandal crafting.

• Japan’s Three Most Famous Snow Gardens-Kenrokuen Garden

Named after the beauty of "Six Victories," this garden embodies grandeur,
profoundness, manpower, ancient times, springs, and views. The Six Victories
highlights how a grand garden may lack tranquility and depth, how artificial
carvings can detract from its ancient charm, or how waterfalls or ponds may
obscure the expansive views. The poem suggests that only the Lake Garden in
Luoyang can harmoniously capture all six artistic conceptions. Kenrokuen
Garden, a "travel-style" garden, maximizes its space by planting vibrant
flowers, plants, and trees, while strategically placing pavilions, rockeries,
ponds, and teahouses. Visitors must stroll through these features to fully
appreciate the garden's beauty.

During winter, "snow cranes" appear throughout Kanazawa City, where ropes
support branches to prevent them from being crushed by snow. This unique
"Yukitsuri" scenery is a winter-only sight.
