Thank you for organizing the trekking trip in Sapa. This was my second time participating, but unfortunately, the experience has significantly worsened due to unsafe conditions. Heavy rainfall made the terrain extremely slippery and muddy, posing serious safety risks. While the guide Su and her friends provided excellent support, it was clear the trek should have been canceled by SAPA MAY TRAVEL before the trip started given the dangerous conditions. My 60-year-old mother could have been severely injured. There were multiple notable accidents: 1. I fell, injuring myself and damaging my shoes (photos attached). 2. Two members of our group fell multiple times, ending up covered in mud. 3. A lady nearly fell off a cliff and was saved just in time by 3 people as seen in blue jeans and red jacket (audio recording provided - https://jmp.sh/s/RXwuqFP0gpJfHUt3eKqP) At least 4 out of the 11 participants (nearly 40%) experienced falls during the trek, and others may have fallen without reporting it. If such a high percentage of participants are falling, would YOU still go on this tour? I have also attached a video as proof of our attendance. The agency failed to anticipate or mitigate these hazards, leaving participants exposed to unnecessary risks. Expecting first-time visitors to foresee the terrain’s condition is unreasonable, especially in a foreign country. They appear more focused on making money than on ensuring participants’ safety. Adding to the frustration, a staff member named Phi dismissed our concerns, blaming the falls on carelessness. He even mentioned we should buy insurance - something we had already done. However, isn't prevention better than cure? Imagine visiting a foreign country, unfamiliar with the terrain, and being blamed for not knowing the trail’s condition or being denied the option to cancel due to unsafe conditions. How would YOU feel? Given the lack of preventive measures, poor safety management, and the dismissive attitude toward participants, I cannot recommend this agency.
