Wonderful tour and an essential Edinburgh experience. The stories of the lives of close residents from hundreds of years ago were captivating and we were left in awe of the resilience of those long ago Edinburghers. Anthony is the most excellent guide and brought all his tales to life with his tone and expressions. 5 stars indeed!
Good quality, short 1 hour tour. Well presented by the guide who took up a persona of a resident in Mary King's Close. It was interesting to see how people might have lived hundreds of years ago. The rooms were well prepared but maybe they could be staged better with more items to more accurately reflect what the places could have looked like if people were still living there. Also consider playing some background noise in the street portion (e.g. market noises) to set the atmosphere. Side note, there were other areas and rooms which were staged but we did not go to - not sure if there are variations to the tours dependent on who the guide is.
