From
skies for an incredible scenic flight and mountaintop gin-tasting adventure,
before traveling to three unique tasting rooms and trying award-winning gins
and other spirits, including vodkas, whiskeys, and liqueurs.
The Helicopter Line
Start your day with a pick-up by The Helicopter Line from your Queenstown
accommodation and enjoy a special scenic 15-minute helicopter flight. Land on
a mountaintop, where the helicopter will shut down for 25 minutes allowing you
to enjoy a unique gin-tasting experience while taking in the breathtaking
views of Queenstown. From here, we'll touch down in the Cardrona Valley, and
you will be greeted by your Altitude Tours guide and the remainder of your
group.
Cardrona Distillery
The Cardrona Distillery is a family-owned and operated distillery producing
handcrafted Single Malt Whisky, Gin, Vodka, and Liqueurs. Receive a Gin &
Tonic cocktail on arrival, and be guided through their impressive distillery,
before joining a private tasting of each of their spirits. From here will will
continue by road, travelling with your Aguide in a premium Mercedes van.
The Winery
We journey back down to the historic village of Arrowtown, famous for its rich
gold-mining history and quaint shop fronts. Here we will visit a unique
tasting room "The Winery", despite the name, The Winery offers tastings of a
range of locally and nationally produced wines, and spirits, and it is here
where you will have a tasting flight board of New Zealand gins, accompanied
with a shared tasting platter. A great location to relax and get to know the
fellow gin lovers on tour with you.
If you would like to take a break from spirits, you are able to switch to
wine, and try some of the famous New Zealand wines - the choice is yours!
Gin Garden by Broken Heart Spirits
Our final location takes us to the small area of Arthurs Point, located only 5
minutes out of Queenstown, close to the Coronet Peak skifield. The Gin Garden
is a tasting room and bar owned and operated by Broken Heart Spirits. Paired
with an emotional and inspiring story of Master Distillers Joerg and Bernd,
your host will take you on a tasting journey across a range of their award-
winning gins and spirits enjoyed alongside traditional German tarte flambées.
Experience the Unforgettable
Let us take you on New Zealand’s first gin tour and experience more with
Altitude Tours. The 6-hour Heli Gin Tour departs Queenstown on Tuesdays,
Fridays, and Saturdays from 12:15pm, returning at 6:30pm.
Locations are subject to change, however in the case where we cannot visit
one of the mentioned tasting rooms, it will replaced with an equally great
location with great gins and spirits to taste.
We encourage you to eat a meal before the tour. Whilst the tour includes
platters, these will not be introduced until later in the afternoon.
Thank you so much for choosing Altitude Tours for your upcoming tasting
adventure on our Queenstown Helicopter Gin Tour! Get ready for a day filled
with smooth spirit tastings, scrumptious bites, and of course, a spectacular
scenic helicopter flight.
Pick Up Location:
Take note of your pick up location and time on this confirmation, and make
sure you are aware of where you need to be on the day. Aim to get there 10
minutes before the departure time, and lookout The Helicopter Line shuttle.
Tip - Lookout for a Mercedes van!
Helicopter Flight:
You have opted to start your afternoon with an incredible scenic helicopter
flight - amazing choice! Did you know that this includes an incredible
mountaintop landing and exclusive gin tasting throughout the flight. The
helicopter company does require a minimum of 4 people booked to operate, and
our team will be in touch if this flight is not confirmed ahead of time. You
are welcome to travel by road if numbers aren’t met (or in the case of bad
weather).
Gin Tasting and Platters:
Get ready to tantalise your taste buds across three gin/spirits tastings.
Throughout the afternoon we include delicious platters and German style tarte
flambees. If you have any dietary preferences, let us know before the day, and
we'll do our best to whip up some fantastic alternatives for you. Please eat
lunch before the tour - while snacks are included, you won’t see these until
roughly 4pm, so it's recommended you start the tour on a full belly.
Photo ID:
Are you under 25 years old, or have a great skincare regime that gives you a
youthful glow? A cellar door may ask you to show that you are at least 18
years old. Please bring either your passport or a NZ driver’s license, just
in case they want to see it (and take it as a compliment if they do).
Dress for the occasion:
We recommend you bring with you a warm jacket, comfortable shoes and if
traveling in winter, gloves and a warm hat.
Stay Hydrated and Eco-Friendly:
We're all about keeping things green! Please bring a trusty water bottle with
you, as we've taken the eco-conscious step of ditching single-use plastic. If
you don't have one, fear not – reusable water bottles are available for
purchase during the tour, or you can make use of the complimentary water at
each location we stop at.
Should you have any questions or just fancy a pre-tour chat, feel free to
