The glorious cheese kottu. This clever invention brought kottu back into the limelight, with many a clubgoer and/or stoner patronising its milky, cheesy goodness. Typically, they add one or two cheese wedges and about half a bottle of kal kiri. The milk softens the rotti and helps spread the cheese all over everything, the onions, the veggies, the meat and whatever else you've asked to be put in it. Cheese kottus are mostly ordered with chicken, though you can get it with beef, too. It doesn't quite work with pork kottu, though, don't mess with pork kottu. Commons does a pretty fancy take on it with a creamy cheese sauce poured on top of a bed of kottu.

Chapati is a type of Indian flat bread, it’s very popular in Sri lanka. It is a staple and made of really simple ingredients: wheat flour, salt and water only . Most people who are unfamiliar with spices, a curry is basically something that’s fiery and spicy but this potato dish is anything but spicy and is a great testament to what Sri Lankan curries can offer. Accompanied by a mild, creamy coconut-ty base that is bright yellow in colour; this dish uses spices like turmeric and fenugreek seeds which are believed to carry a ton of medicinal properties. This is a super comforting and non-spicy curry dish that everyone can enjoy and is perfect dish to introduce curries to toddlers and those who are weary of curries. I love my potato white curry to be paired with a bowl of steaming hot rice and a spoonful of Vegemite, but it can also be enjoyed with stringhoppers Chapati ,Puttu ,Bread .

Pittu is a traditional breakfast item of steamed rice flour mixed with scraped coconut and salt. Pittu is cooked in a pittu bambuwa, a cylindrical vessel which is made from bamboo and wounded with coir. The pittu mixture of rice flour and coconut is thus placed inside this bamboo structure and steamed over a vessel filled with water. If you are a seafood lover and love eating spicy dishes, then you should definitely try Sri Lankan Crab Curry. This Asian recipe is prepared using crab meat, shallots and milk, and goes well with steamed rice/pulao traditionally. However, you can also enjoy this curry recipe with Pittu .
