Highlights

Visit Takuapa Old Town and observe old period-style buildings, small coffee shops, and the famous tin mines. This Historical and Cultural Tour explores the old town of Takuapa, formerly known as ‘Takola’. Located approximately 32km north of Khao Lak. The beautiful Sino-Portuguese architecture and wealth of the community owe their origins to the tin-mining industry, an important era in the town, and in fact the history of the town. Discover the old-town streets lined with beautiful examples of Sino-Portuguese architecture. We will visit Takuapa Market before heading to Nam Kem Cultural Centre, a museum run by locals and interestingly made out of clay. Finally, we visit the Tsunami Memorial Park, a tranquil and peaceful place for reflection and remembrance.
