Highlights

Sangumburi is a crater that looks like a bowl of soup and is hollowed out when volcanic gas explodes and goes into the ground. It is a very special crater in Asia, and the view with the numerous surrounding oreums and Hallasan Mountain in the background is very beautiful and worth admiring the special crater. Sangsan Ilchulbong is a large 182m lava rock created by the eruption of an underwater volcano 5,000 years ago. As the volcano erupted and cooled, it formed a large crater-shaped volcanic rock. It is famous for its castle-like scenery and as a place to watch the sunrise due to its location on the east. Seongsan Ilchulbong is a World Natural Heritage site and the most visited tourist destination in Jeju. Also, at 2 o'clock every day, there is a haenyeo performance on Seongsan Ilchulbong Beach. On days when the weather is very bad, the haenyeo performance is suddenly canceled.

Itinerary

  • Sangumburi Crater

    1 hoursAdmission Ticket Not Included
Jeju Sangumburi Crater is a parasitic volcanic crater on Hallasan Mountain. It is the only submerged volcano on Jeju Island. The outer circumference of the crater is 2,067m, the inner circumference is 756m, the depth of the crater is 100–146 m, forming a conical cliff, and the floor area is about 8,000 pyeong. The crater rarely ejected lava; only a hole was dug deep by the explosion, and the material from the explosion was scattered in all directions and only a small amount accumulated around it. Although the diameter and depth of the crater are larger than those of Baeknokdam, the water does not accumulate and flows out to the sea through the basalt gravel layer of the crater wall. Such a crater is called a maar, and Sangumburi Crater is unique in Korea; there are only a few in Japan and Germany worldwide.

  • Jeju Stone Park

    1 hoursAdmission Ticket Not Included
Stone Culture Park is a museum and ecological park that comprehensively and systematically shows the stone culture of Jeju, the land of stones. The entire park will be created by 2020, and in the first stage, exhibition halls such as the Jeju Stone Museum, Jeju Stone Culture Exhibition Hall, and Jeju's traditional thatched roof were completed and opened on June 3, 2006, 7 years after the construction began. The Stone Culture Park, where you can see the stone culture of Jeju in one place, is so large that it is recommended to visit it with a leisurely schedule. The Stone Culture Park is located in front of Oreum, a unique natural heritage of Jeju, and if you follow the shape of a castle made of piled stones, you will reach the entrance of the Stone Culture Park with a cool view of the surroundings. Passing through the entrance and following the viewing path, you will come across various stone sculptures woven from the tale of Seolmundae Halmang and her son, General Oh Baek.
  • Jeju Horse Pasture

    30 minsAdmission Ticket Free
5.16 Jeju Horse Ranch on Road is where you can see Jeju purebred horses, which have been designated as Natural Monument No. 347 since 1986. They are also called Gosoo Horses because they leisurely run around in the Hallasan grassland. The horses here are known to be gentle and follow people well, and they are said to have the strength to withstand the cold. Jeju Horse Ranch is a cultural heritage protection area, so entry into the ranch is prohibited, and grazing is restricted in the winter, making it difficult to see horses. Depending on the weather, on a clear day, you can take pictures of horses grazing and running around in the wide, green grassland and make beautiful memories, and on a cloudy day, you can see Jeju Horse Ranch, which is foggy and dreamy. Jeju horses are the horses of Genghis Khan in China and can only be seen in Jeju and Mongolia. The sight of horses eating grass is very peaceful and puts people's minds at ease.
