Dating back to 532 AD, the Basilica Cistern is the city's largest covered cistern, originally supplying water to the Great Palace, home to emperors. Walk along the raised platforms and soak up the sights while standing safe and dry among 336 illuminated marble and granite columns. See the Byzantine architecture and the famous Medusa heads at the base of the columns. This historic site has appeared in films like Dan Brown's "Inferno" and the James Bond movie "From Russia with Love."
Fast confirmation of tickets, very enchanting and magical place. Didn’t want to leave.
Both were skip-the-line tickets so it saved me loads of time. The lines at the cistern were long, so the e tickets helped me to skip the long lines. We had a good time walking through both attractions. There was free WiFi at Hagia Sofia, and the walk through guide was great. Note that it will guide you to level 2, it was a pity they did not allow non-turkish citizens to enter the first level of the beautiful mosque.
