Highlights

Take a day trip from Melbourne to experience the natural wonders of the Grampians National Park. A geological playground for hikers, rock climbers and wildlife, the Grampians offer second to none views over the the park and western plains of Victoria and is home to the spectacular Mackenzie Falls.
We showcase the region known as Gariwerd by the local Indigenous people. A spectacular series of rugged mountain ranges to the west of Melbourne. Home to an abundance of kangaroos, wallabies and other native animals and rich in natural wonders with stunning waterfalls and panoramic mountain views. This Grampians tour includes short walks to some of our favourite spots and includes a visit to the award-winning Brambuk the National Park & Cultural Centre for an insight into the history of the people, the landscape and the wildlife that make up this region.

Itinerary

Once we have arrived in the picturesque National Park, we head to Brambuk Aboriginal Cultural Centre, where you can explore and see first hand the creation stories that make up the lore of this diverse landscape. Probably the most famous waterfall in Victoria, we hike down to the base and back to marvel at the sheer amount of water and to feel the fresh spray in the air. The hike is about 250 steps to the base and back and if you prefer an easier flat walk out over the top of the falls this is absolutely fine! If ever Mackenzie Falls were closed to the public this stop would be substituted for a peaceful hike to Silverband Falls.
  • The Balconies

    1 hoursAdmission Ticket Included
We then enjoy a hike along the shady path through the gumtrees and fascinating rock formations out to The Balconies, here you will see the famous ‘Jaws of Death’ with majestic views and scenery, featured in the Japanese Animation ‘Princess Mononoke’.

I am not sure if there was a booking error or a deliberate swap by the original booking company. Our booking was with “Wildlife Tours Australia” but the company which actually brought us on the tour was “Autopia Tours”. Anyways, the tour was more of a driving tour. Mostly sight seeing at the valleys and mountains at look out points. The actual highlight of the tour, Mackenzie falls wasn’t that magnificent or exhilarating as shown in the internet pictures. Not much to bring home in terms of memories for this tour. Can’t blame the tour company actually. May be should add in more activity like a winery or two on the way to make it more interesting and memorable.
