Muay Thai and kickboxing are both combat sports, but they have several differences:
Origin: Muay Thai originated in Thailand, while kickboxing originated in Japan and later gained popularity in the United States.
Techniques: Muay Thai allows the use of elbows, knees, and clinching techniques, while kickboxing primarily focuses on punches and kicks.
Strikes: Muay Thai emphasizes powerful strikes using all parts of the body, including fists, elbows, knees, and shins, whereas kickboxing typically emphasizes kicks and punches.
Clinching: Clinching is a significant component of Muay Thai, allowing fighters to control their opponents and deliver knee strikes, while clinching is less common in kickboxing.
Stance: Muay Thai fighters typically have a wider stance and use more leg kicks, while kickboxers often have a narrower stance and focus more on punches and high kicks.
Great experience even asked our 11yr old daughter to carry champions belt into the ring (ring girl), good night & even got a free vest 😜
Amazing experience to witness the action live in this incredibly well organised event my only advice is to pay a little extra to sit ringside and watch these awesome combatants in comfort
nice and easy
Awesome
Interesting experience
Really enjoyed watching the fights. Most attendees were tourists as this was Phuket but there were many local Thais in the audience as well cheering on their favorite boxer. Watch out for taxis when you leave trying to charge you way too much to get back to your hotel - you are better off walking a few blocks and using Grab. BUT, the boxing experience was worth attending - I really enjoyed it.
