The guided tour came with headsets to hear what the guide was saying. It was organized and really helpful in understanding the context of both the basilica and the doge's palace.

Get a download of the history of venice, who the doges were, see the magnificent doge palace and its hidden dark side. The basilica was grandeur and capture the scenic view from the terrace. Guide was a walking history book. Lots of steps, don’t expect any lifts in such historical buildings, just take one step at a time. Worth every dollar.

The meeting point is at the Venice Tours Office in Campo San Gallo, San Marco 1093/B, beside San Marco Square. Having the Basilica of San Marco behind you, stay on the right side of the square and go under the arches. Find Olivetti Museum, turn right, pass under the archways, cross the little bridge and go straight to Campo San Gallo
