Just 7 miles away from downtown Taipei City, Yangmingshan National Park is the 3rd national park in Taiwan that covers a wide area of volcanic geological features; the famous Beitou Hot Spring is also nearby. Yangmingshan has a wide elevation range from 200 to 1,120 meters with beautiful landscapes alongside different trails. The highest summit of the mountain is approximately 1,120 meters above sea level, where you can enjoy a sweeping view of Taipei Basin when you reach the top of the mountain.

    Before you travel, you can choose a level of difficulty for your hiking tour. You can choose the Easy Level with the shortest distance to chill and relax on Eziping Trail, or choose the Moderate Level with a longer and steeper trail to sweat a little on Mt. Ding–Mt. Shiti Trail, and maybe choose the Challenging Level to challenge yourself on Mt. Qixing Trail and get on the highest peak of the mountain. All levels are available for hiking alone or a private group of your friends or family. - Challenging Level: Mt. Qixing Trail (1.5-2 hours) - Moderate Level: Mt. Ding– Shiti Trail (2-2.5 hours) - Easy Level: Erziping Trail (1-1.5 hours)
  • Qixing Mountain(Pass by)

    Challenging Level: Mt. Qixing Trail (1.5-2 hours) This is the most challenging level you can choose from the three trails, which you have the chance to conquer the highest mountain in Taipei—Mt. Qixing. The 4km route starts from Xiaoyoukeng Recreation Area and up to Mt. Qixing. You can enjoy a sweeping view from the mountain top when you reach the main peak of Mt. Qixing. After the challenging section, coming up with a gentle road, and the journey will end at Menghuan Lake, where you can get some rest and relax in the beautiful scenery around the lake.
  • Fengguikou(Pass by)

    Moderate Level: Mt. Ding– Shiti Trail (2-2.5 hours) Starting from Fengguikou, one of the hottest cycling spots in Taipei. But you are not here for cycling. In this level, you will experience a higher and 6 km-long trail with a variety of landscapes and vegetation, such as black forest, mountain ridge and grassland. From Fengguikou to Mt. Ding–Mt. Shiti is a beautiful and leisurely terrain in the eastern part of Yangmingshan National Park. The journey will finish at Qingtiangang Recreation Area, where you can see vast grassy hills and the naturally breed buffalos.
  • Erziping Trail(Pass by)

    Admission Ticket Free
    Easy Level: Erziping Trail (1-1.5 hours) This easy level will enable you to enjoy a relaxing walk of 3.6 km around Erziping. Paved and shaded, this trail is accessible for people of all ages, and stroller and wheelchair friendly, too. Mt. Miantian and a constructed wetland can be observed along the trail. If you are visiting during the butterfly season, you will have a chance to see many species of butterflies flitting through the trail.
