Matsumoto Castle, a national treasure, originated as Fukashi Castle, which was
built during the Eisho era of the Sengoku period, and is the oldest remaining
five-story, six-story castle tower in Japan, designated as a national
treasure. The black and white contrast against the Alps creates a magnificent
sight.

Matsumoto Castle is a national treasure, and is the oldest surviving five-story, six-story wooden castle tower. 
You can only access the castle tower by stairs. Please note that the stairs are narrow and steep. (Number of stairs: about 140 steps, maximum slope of the stairs: about 61 degrees)
Shoes are not permitted inside the castle tower. Tabi socks are distributed at the entrance, so please bring a bag with your shoes in it before entering.
Please note that the Uzumimon entrance on the red Uzumibashi side is closed. The only entrance is the Black Gate.
Pets are not permitted inside the Honmaru garden or the castle tower. Pets are also not permitted in bags or cages. However, assistance dogs are permitted. Please contact the management office in advance.
