    Nijo Castle is closed on Tuesdays in January, July, August, and December. If closed, Ryoan-Ji Temple will be visited instead. The Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed every public holiday, Mondays, the following day if Monday is a national holiday, and during Imperial Household events. If closed, the Kitano Tenmangu Shrine will be visited instead.
